ML310 G2 SATA RAID
I used the installed SATA 80GB pair as mirror, Installed Windows Server - no problem. I want to add a pair of SATA 160GB as striped but controller/POST does not recognizes all 4 at same time, only Port 0 and 1. And at no time did Port 2,3 work!
I can get either pair of HD to be recognized when using port 0,1 but I can not get SATA Port 2,3 to work. This machine has a 4 Port SATA on MB, 1 IDE and 1 floppy. I see others have 6 SATA ports. (82801FR SATA RAID Controller)
No mention in CD docs!
SmartStart 7.20 cannot see the Windows drive!
Array Configuration Utility ACU 7.20.19.0 can not detect controller!
How do I ENABLE the last 2 Ports, (2 and 3)?

Re: ML310 G2 SATA RAID
did you go into the controller via control A on post and initialize the two 160gig disks on sata port 2 and 3?

Re: ML310 G2 SATA RAID
I could get into the Adaptec controller utility on boot (ctrl-A), but the disks on sata port 2 and 3 where never listed. "Only drives present at POST are Displayed"?
So I decided to break the adaptec mirror, (F10-Setup-Advanced-Sata RAID-Disabled) now all 4 display at post, but WINDOWs is screwed. After the third windows "Found new hardware need to reboot", windows blue screens.
The manual on SATA controller is minimal, but no where do I read that this HP Adaptec controller is limited to 2 drives in RAID mode.

Re: ML310 G2 SATA RAID
Please take a look at the quickspecs at
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12168_na/12168_na.html
Integrated four port SATA controller with integrated SATA RAID 0, 1 (SATA Models)
NOTE: Integrated SATA RAID functionality supports 2 hard drives.
NOTE: See the "Storage" section of these QuickSpecs for information on controllers and cables required to support SATA drive configurations
The integrated SATA RAID only supports 2 hard drives. To use 4 sata drives you have to disable the raid functionality.
