ML310 G5 HPASM reboot Issue

upon installation of the EFS ver 5.790a software on my SCO 5.07 box, each time I do a rebbot, or shutdown the system hangs. A Reboot results in the following 2 messages:
WARNING: uadmin(A_SHUTDOWN)- Could not kill PID 292
WARNING: uadmin(A_SHUTDOWN)- Could not kill PID 291

A shutdown never comes to the "safe to power off etc..." prompt.

ps-ef from before the shutdown reveals those processes are:
/usr/bin/compaq/hpasmd/hpasmd

When I remove EFS the system functions normally.
Any help would be appreciated
