ML350 External health LED

This LED prior to today was a normal green color. As of this morning when the system was bumped rather hard it is now red. Is their any way of reseting this? if so how?

Re: ML350 External health LED

Dear John,

If the external power LED is red, then system power state is in critical condition (power supply error). Check the back of the server, check the LED on the power supplys, try to plug out/in the power cable.
Which generation is your server (like ML350 G4, its on a stick on the front of the server)?
How many power supplys it has?

Attila

Re: ML350 External health LED

Are there any errors in the IML (Integrated Management Log)?

Re: ML350 External health LED

There is no IML errors. The system will not power up at all at this point. There is only one power suppply. This is a ML350 G4.

Re: ML350 External health LED

Then its really looks like a power supply error. If there is not any damage on the server cause it was bumped, then just call an HP service provider, they will replace the power supply, or any other part if needed.
If the server damaged, then the solution is the same (call a service center), but You will need to pay for that...

Re: ML350 External health LED

Depending on your comfort level, you may want to disassemble the server and reseat EVERYTHING. It sounds like it took quite a pounding. :-)
