ML350 G5 Blue Screen Bug trap

I have a ML350 G5, only about 5-6 months old, occassionally it give a Blue screen bug trap in the HP IML, the error code is identical each time it happens.

It comes with:
Blue screen tap (bugcheck, STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xFFFFF800010366BC)
This same error and same code shows up in windows event logs too.

As of 25/02/2009 I had the latest drivers and firmware from the Proliant Support Packs, sadly about a week later is when the error first came up, on 04/03/2009, and latest on 27/03/2009, It is running Windows 2003 standard, running terminal server
There are quite a few printer drivers loaded onto the server so when users log in they can use their own printer, and unfortunately i can't remove them without many complaints from users.

Does anyone have any suggestions, as i'm running out of things to try.

Regards,

David

Re: ML350 G5 Blue Screen Bug trap

Hi David,
I have same server but with OS Windows server 2003 x64 R2 installed and I have same problem.

On 4/10/2009 server restart with error:
Blue Screen Trap (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000024 (0x000000000019033D, 0xFFFFFADF73F02720, 0xFFFFFADF73F02130, 0xFFFFF8000103C490))

On 4/15/2009 server restart with error:
Blue Screen Trap (BugCheck, STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xFFFFF800010366BC))

Hardware server description:
- Proliant ML350 G5 Tower 470064-684 (Rom Version D21-11/02/2008)
- 2 Xeon processors 2,5Ghz
- 5Gb RAM
- Smart arraay 200i
- 3 136Gb HD HotPlug SAS
- 1 HP SC11Xe Host Bus Adapter
- 1 External tape drive LTO2

Into OS EventWiever I didn't have any other errors and all applications (Oracle 10g, AD, Arcserve Backup 12i, DHCP, DNS, WINS) works fine without any problems.

Please let me know if you have suggestions or if someone have a solution.

Re: ML350 G5 Blue Screen Bug trap

Thanks for that Giorgio, I forgot to mention the full details before, I am also running Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 R2
Perhaps a problem with drivers in the x64 Proliant Support pack?

David

Re: ML350 G5 Blue Screen Bug trap

If it started afrer integrating the SUPPORT PACK in both servers then try to roll back (remove) that change in your system. If that doesn't help then it a bigger problem to restore your system to the old state.
When you are giving points It's like saying Thank You :-)

Might I suggest a foray into the world of low-level debugging http://tr.im/Schaefer_Debugging_Part2 ?

Using information from a kernel minidump you may get a better idea as to the source of the problem and either disable the device/service or roll-back the offending firmware/driver.

Re: ML350 G5 Blue Screen Bug trap

Hi David, Hi Giorgio,

we have the same Problem with our ML350 G5 Servers. OS W2k3 SP2 32 Bit.

Try this Firmware update for the Smart Array Controller E200i. Version 1.82

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121586&swItem=MTX-0bbd582676044917bb0a304b34&prodNameId=3279711&swEnvOID=1113&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=3

This Firmware Update solves:

Fix to address a potential Windows blue screen issue that may display a STOP: 0X0D, STOP: 0X0A or STOP:0XC5 error message.

Bernhard
