Re: ML350 G5 - STEP CODES

Kevin,

1) Identify what processor is running presently in your server .

2) Order a new identical Processor from HP

3) Once you received the part. Schedule & Shut down your server.

4) Remove all the Power cables, Press & Hold Power button for 30 Seconds to drain any remaining charge, wear an antistatic wrist band, Remove the cover, Fix the Processor, PPM, Heatsink, Screw it tight enough, ensure you didn't disturb any other part, refix the cover back, Replug the power cabled, Power it ON, check the display listing two processors and that all. .

In below link you can find the compatible processors. If you have a lower one you can order a pair of latest processor Kits.

Re: ML350 G5 - STEP CODES

Hi,

P/N 411354-001 is for the heat sink.

Ok the best you can go is
Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5160 (3.0 GHz, 80 Watts, 1333 FSB) 416891-B21

And P/N for the existing processor is
Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5120 (1.86 GHz, 65 Watts, 1066 FSB) 416887-B21

Re: ML350 G5 - STEP CODES

Will a pulled processor from our other server

HP Part # 416579-B21

work in this server?

Re: ML350 G5 - STEP CODES

Kevin,

416891-B21 pulled from another server with PPM will work on this, but you can't put it in the second socket along with the existing 416887-B21. Because then the System board will have non identical processors.

As per HP Recommendations the processors should be populated in such a way that they are identical.

Now you are in a situation to order an extra processor to upgrade. NO MIX Match would work.
