Manufacture Dates for servers
Good day one and all,
I was wondering if there is a way to find out the manufacture date of a server. I have several servers that I need to provide this information on. Here is a listing of them.
HP DL360 60600514WR02
COMPAQ DL360 6J07FCX2500
COMPAQ DL360 6J15FXK1E026
COMPAQ DL360 6J19JZS1K08L
COMPAQ DL360 6J19JZS1K08N
COMPAQ DL360 6J19JZS1K089
COMPAQ DL360 6J1BJZS1E01F
COMPAQ DL360 6J1BJZS1E01A
COMPAQ 5500R D941CQW2K017
COMPAQ 6000 D750BLV30681
COMPAQ 3000R D910BVX10132
COMPAQ EVO 6X19JYFZV4VW
COMPAQ DL360 6J15FXK1P02P
COMPAQ DL360 6J16FXK1L00A
HP DL380 D132FSB1L429
COMPAQ 3000R D917BVX10176
Any help in determining the mfg date is greatly appreciated. I am trying to persuade the management that they need new servers. Thanks.
JK

Re: Manufacture Dates for servers
1) If you call Business support, they should be able to give you the manufacture date, and perhaps the original configuration, for the server. I've only done this for workstations, but they were able to help me with that. I believe I just did it through the live online support chat.
The 3000's, 6000's, and 5500's are *definitely* done for - I wouldn't even run that for DHCP at home... especially since current Linux distros won't support the array controller in the 6000. As to the mass of DL360's, my DL360G1's have "6J1" S/Ns and my G2's have 6J2 S/Ns so I'd assume yours are G1's. If that's the case, they're pretty darn old.
Your best bet might be trying to find the end-of-life or end-of-support dates for the machines, but I can't even seem to find that.
