Max serial port numbers

I have a Proliant ML110 server with a PCI Serlial port (4 port) card. Because an application I need to add two more ports with another PCI card. But Windows XP recognice the two new ports but both of them are innoperative. It seems to be a IRQ problem because when I disable one of the first 4 ports the new one becomes operative. Someone knows any solution for my problem?

Would it give you more option to change if you disable all unused Devices from BIOS?
