Move drives from DL380 G2 to G3
What would happen if I took the drives from a DL380 G2 running WIndows 2000 SP4 with a 5i controller and put it in a DL380 G3 with a 5i contoller?
Im in a situation where HP cannot get me a 5i replacement controller for my G2 and need to come up with a way to get this data online now.
Thanks!

Re: Move drives from DL380 G2 to G3
There will be no Problems if Firmware on the 5i same as in G3 or close
You need to see link for warning message your Driver should be at 5.46.2.32 +

Re: Move drives from DL380 G2 to G3
Martin:
Just a word of caution. If the systems are too different (CPU Model, System Bios, chipsets, etc), then you may have an issue booting up as the drives/OS in the G2 would not have the necessary drivers for the devices in the G3.
I believe the g2 was a P3? and the G3 was P4? You may run into some issues.

Re: Move drives from DL380 G2 to G3
They are both P4 units.
We did end up plugging the drives in with HP on the phone. It was a miserable failure.
Anyhow, we are back working fine now.
Thanks!
