Mark,

I'm pretty sure but have no documentation to back this up that the PL800 and also the PL1600 family will only accept the PII series of CPU's. I've also tried PIII's in them with no luck. Just didn't think of that part until now.

You cannot use PIII and PII processors simultaniously ind a multi-processor machine.

Even if the printed numbers are almost the same: PII and PIII are different processor-generations, so the work different internally.

So the can never be synchroniced - and SMP - symmetric multi processing - depends on that.
