PROLIANT DL360 G4 Servers freeze with grey screen
Sometimes one of our PROLIANT DL360 G4 Servers (PDC) hangs,
login to Windows isn't possible, we get a grey screen. It's
possible to ping the Server but other task doesn't function. We
had to switch the power-button.
In the Eventlog the following 'information' event occur:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: CPQCISSE
Event Category: None
Event ID: 24580
Date: 15-6-2006
Time: 11:49:44
User: N/A
Computer: VLISW300
Description:
Physical Drive removed : DEVICE Port 1, ID 5 of
Array Controller .
Data:
0000: 00 00 00 00 04 00 52 00 ......R.
0008: 00 00 00 00 04 60 35 44 .....`5D
0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
After 5 minutes the Physical Drive inserted, and it will start
again after 5 minutes.
The problem looks like:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EX021220_CW02
But we have a: Smart Array 6i, Firmware: 2.58
Is Event ID: 24580 a problem? Is looks like me.
In the 'HP ProLiant Integrated Management Log Viewer' we didn't
find a event.
Thanks for you help!

Re: PROLIANT DL360 G4 Servers freeze with grey screen
Hi, do you made any change in your server, add any option or the problem suddendly starts? the message say that HDD ID5 was removed, do you remove this disk or not? Anyway, i recommend you power down your server, CAREFULLY re-install all your HDDs, reconnect all your internal cards, memories, processors and check again, then run Server Diagnostics to check by hardware problems first. good luck...

Re: PROLIANT DL360 G4 Servers freeze with grey screen
Thanks for your replay.
We didn't make any changes to the Server.
We did not remove any disk.
The System Management Homepage ( https://vlisw300:2381/ ), doesn't present any problems.
The (eventlog) errors starts random, and will stop again. Last night for instance the erors start on 1:49 and stop on 2:49.
Thanks!
