ProLiant DL360 Power Supply 1 Fan Failure?

We had a power failure over the weekend, when we arrived this morning, the ProLiant file server was on stand-by only. Then I proceed to turn it on, the message "Power Supply 1 Fan Failure Detected" came up and the server shut down. Any idea what the problem could be and how that could be fixed?

Re: ProLiant DL360 Power Supply 1 Fan Failure?

Its a common problem with DL360's and it means that the power suply needs to be replaced. We gave up on using them because we had so many failures, but since then HP have supplied them with dual supplies to overcome the bad PR

Thanks everyone, it's the power supply that needed replacing. We had it replaced and it's ok.

Just an extra bit of info: If anyone has got a DL360 and the power supply has a green colour sticker instead of orange colour, then be prepared for it to fail anytime soon!

its actually just the fan tht has failed, both my dl-360s have done the same, new fans all round and theyre all happy!
nuch cheaper than new PSUs.

Tim,

Where can the fans be purchased? I haven't found them anywhere.

You can order the power suply from the HP Part Store:

You need to order Spare Part:
DL360 G1 Power supply, 190W - 173828-001

Re: ProLiant DL360 Power Supply 1 Fan Failure?

I know I can replace the whole psu, but I just want to replace the fans as that's the only problem with my psu.

Re: ProLiant DL360 Power Supply 1 Fan Failure?

Grant:

The fans are likely soldered into the power supply, but if you feel like digging in, I am sure you can get the exact fan and wire it in...

Warranty issues asside, it would be easier to just get a new PSU...
