ProLiant ML150 G5 - Adding Disk out of the Raid

I have a Proliant ML150 G5 Server configured this way:

- 2 SATA hard disks configured in RAID 1.

Now i bought a new SATA disk and tried to install it on the server, but not in the RAID array (only for backup).

The RAID controller recognized the disk, but when i try to boot the system (linux) it stops on disk error.

Is there a way to configure one disk out of the RAID? Or my problem is my operational system?

Thanks for any help.

Blame both hardware & Software, Your's is embedded RAID controller. and you can't really make it work.

Get a USB to SATA enclosure, Connect the HDD thro USB and Start taking your backup.

Thanks Prem. So the only way is making another RAID array (with two HD) or connecting my HD in USB (enclosure)?

Thanks Again.
