Problem with 4 Gb RAM on Proliant ML570 and Windows 2003 R2
Hy ,
I have a problem with a PROLIANT ML570 G4 server with Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard edition 32 Bit.
The server have 4 Gb of phisical memory , correcly reported by BIOS , but Windows Server 2003 report only 3,25 Gb ( see report belows ).
I have found a similar problem in this article : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EL041214_CW01
I have added RAM ( total 6 Gb ) , correctly reported by BIOS ( latest version ), but WINDOWS 2003 report only 3,25 Gb.
I have added the /3GB switch to boot.ini , but the problem still remain.
Someone can help me ?

Re: Problem with 4 Gb RAM on Proliant ML570 and Windows 2003 R2
Hello
Put the Switch /PAE in the Boot.ini
After the reboot you will see 4GB
Because of some Controllers needing Adressspace below the 4GB Limit, some Memory is remapped, starting at 4GB.
Windows only looks in the first 4GB for Memory.
Whith the Switch PAE you enable the Pysical Adress Extension, telling Windows to search for Memory also behind the 4GB mark.
Now Windows will show you 4GB, even if more is present (std. Version restriction)
If you need more, use the 64Bit Version whitch can use 32GB or the Enterprise Version
Hope this helps !
