Proliant 2500 bluescreen after updating Drive Array Driver for Windows NT 4.24

Hello,

I got a Proliant 2500 by second hand:-)

But I'm not happy with the given RAID configuration so I want to reconfigure the drives.

I installed Windows NT Server 4.0. After that I installed SP6a,SP6aRoll-up and IE6.
It seems that Windows installed the HP Proliant Drive Array Driver 4.0.1381.164

Then I installed some array configuration utilities with no luck:
ACU 6.0.60 did not find any compatible drives
Compaq Array Configuration Utility 2.90.65.0 did not find any compatible devices.

So, I tried to update the Drive Array Driver.
After installing the:

HP ProLiant Drive Array Driver for Windows NT 4.0
version 4.24.0.0 E (4 Dec 02)
or version 4.24.0.0 (7 Aug 01)

i got a bluescreen during boot: "inaccessible_boot_device".

Has someone also got this nasty kind of error?
Even it's an old machine it would be nice to hear if there is a solution.

Greetings,
Joachim Gelhaus

Some facts about my machine:

Compaq Proliant 2500
Compaq System BIOS E24 12/01/1999
Compaq Smart-2DH Array Controller
2 x 2GB as RAID1 (NT 4 installed here!)
3 x 4GB as RAID5

Here is a link to another driver that may be correct.

Re: Proliant 2500 bluescreen after updating Drive Array Driver for Windows NT 4.24

I just found the solution.

I had to update the firmware of the Smart-2DH Array Controller from revision: 2.02 to 2.14.

Now all runs very smooth.
