Proliant 5500 XR: Processor+VRM Troubles
My Server is a Proliant 5500 XR and has the latest Firmware ROM-Pack installed.
I have bought four Xeon III 550/2M and four redundant VRMs on ebay, now the following situation appears:
These Xeon Processors only show 450 MHz - jumperswitch setting should be right, but the manual shows the same settings for 450 and 550 MHz. (?)
The VRMs are working, but I get an Errormessage saying something like "only nonredundant powermodules are supported in this system".
Part Number 303990-001
Spare: 328842-001
DCGP0015 035474-02
What P/N should be on the right VRMs?
Will the right VRMs solve the 450 MHz-Problem or: what are the right Jumpersettings?
Thank you!

Re: Proliant 5500 XR: Processor+VRM Troubles
Strange, the Service and Maintenance Guide does not include this error-message. My Server should support redundancy of VRMs but does not.
I can set CPU-frequency up to 500 MHz but not 550 MHz (just shows 450 MHz again).
What's wrong here?

Re: Proliant 5500 XR: Processor+VRM Troubles
Well I finally could solve the 450 MHz-Problem:
There are actually two different versions of the Service and Maintenance Guide out there. This one has a wrong description for the 550 MHz switch-setting:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00387697/c00387697.pdf
Please correct or delete this document, it could cause confusion (as you see above)!

The right setting is described here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_328470-002/TPM_328470-002.pdf
The post-date for this document is 16 Apr 1999.
Both documents can be found here:

Thank you!
