Proliant 5500R Will Not Boot From The Smart Start CD
I am working on a 5500R server with Win2K3 OS.
The CD rom works fine through the system and it will read the CD after Booting from the Diskette i.e.(Floppy Drive) but it will not boot from the Smart Start CD. The CD-Rom Drive has been replaced as well as the I/O board including the data cable and all the rompaq updates have been applied. Anyone have any new ideas that we have not tried yet? Please help. We have also been in contact with Compaq Tech support. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you! In Advance...

Re: Proliant 5500R Will Not Boot From The Smart Start CD
Presumably you have cleared the NV RAM ?
And the boot order is set for CD first ?
Try using an older version of Smart Start - Something like 5.40.

Re: Proliant 5500R Will Not Boot From The Smart Start CD
As it turns out, I came to find that although the CD rom was replaced and the cable was swapped out. Niether the cable or the device were replaced at the same time. So as it turns out, both the cable & the CD rom were defective and once both were changed out, the CD rom booted from the Smart Start CD and all is well.
