Proliant 6500 won't boot from cd drive

We recently acquired a Proliant 6500. We replaced some failed scsi drives and a failing cd rom drive -- now the system will not boot from the cd drive. It doesn't appear to even hit the cd during boot. We also can't do F10 and use the system partition utilities because it doesn't exist yet -- and we can't boot from the CD to create/restore the system partition. How can you force the 6500 to boot from the CD? Thanks.

Maybe try the floppy version of the system configuration utility to help you get started... that way you can see if it can see the cdrom etc...

Hi

The recent replacements seems to be a problem, it could be either a failed cd drive or the controller, you can try to reseat the controller and connectors and try or can try another bootable media just in case.

You know - as a hardware engineer, you'd think I'd learn. After checking, rechecking, rechecking, and rechecking... we discovered one cable connection that wasn't firmly seated. That was apparently the problem because we are now able to boot from the CD. Thanks.
