Proliant BL20p Default Array Configuration

We got a new Proliant BL20p server that had 2 hard drives pre-configured as RAID 0. I do not want that configuration and would rather have no RAID set on it. I want the two drives to be seperate.

During POST, I enter the ROM configuration for the Array and I delete the logical volume. I then restart, but the array configuration utility automatically reconfigures the drives as one RAID 0 logical drive.

There has got to be a way around this, but I'm lost right now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Nevermind, I talked to HP support. Apparently you can't turn off the Array or disable any RAID configuration. I tried taking out the controller but the server wasn't happy.

I guess this is my first complaint about these blades. Oh well.

Re: Proliant BL20p Default Array Configuration

Hi Matt,

I haven't tried this myself but just a thought. If you go into the ACU and create an array with only one drive in it. Then create a logical drive that uses all of the available space in that array.

Then create a second array with the second disk and continue from there.

If it works you will end up with two single drive RAID 0 arrays.

Regards, Mike.
