Proliant DL140 drops network communications
I have a new ProliantDL140 server with dual Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet adapters running at 100 mbps. This is a single use server running Windows 2000 server and a critical SQL database. Periodically, the network adapter stops communicating on the network. There are no errors in the event log and there is no indication of a cable or switch problem. It simply stops communicating. If I disable the NIC and then re-enable it, communications return to normal.

Re: Proliant DL140 drops network communications
HI,
I have had the same problem with the DL360 when built from a Ghost Image.
To overcome this problem, Un-"team"ed the Broadcom Cards, as they were using the same MAC address as the source image server.
I then re-teamed the cards and re-booted.
I also updated the firmware on the cards using the utility downloaded from this HP site.
Hope this helps.

Re: Proliant DL140 drops network communications
Thanks. My issue seems to be a little different, however. The server was not configured from an image but was set up from scratch. I had also not teamed the NICs. I will try doing that, however.
