Proliant DL320 With SATA drives

I have a proliant DL320 server with 2 146GB SATA hard drives installed. The hard drives work fine in the server ( can be seen in post, and in the disk managment in the OS ), but the LED's on the disks are not active so if a disk fails, the only way I can find out is if I remote into the server rather than the orange LED on the drive indicating a failure. I have tried one of the disks in another 320 and the LEDS work fine. Is this a back plane issue with the server?

Yes, the SCSI backplane should be replaced to correct the LED issue.
