I've just installed WIN2K SERVER on my new DL380 G3 server and the following menu appears :
"Previous Operating System on C:
Windows 2000 installation/upgrade".
If I select the first choice, the system returns to this menu. If I select the second one, the following message appears:
"The entry
"CD-ROM IDE (ATAPI 1.2) / PCI IDE Controller
in the unattended script file doesn't exist
in the section of the file txtsetup.sif.
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit"
So do I, and the system returns to the previous menu.
What can I do to exit this amazing spiral ?
Thanks for help.
Regards

Solution- Has the install finished
- Was it Manual or assisted install (from cdrom or floppy)
- Possible windows 2000 needs the driver for the ATA controller or cdrom
RES:
1- Reinstall from Floppy (or do Smartstart Automated install from Smart start 6.40
2- if we are reinstalling from floppy
(windows 2000 setup disk) if don't have can download from www.bootdisk.com
We need to push F6 before windows detects hardware and provide windows with the ATA controller driver and the 5i controller (raid)
It looks to me like windows dosenot recognize your cdrom or ATA controller and asking for the driver for it.
Regards,
Tarek

Hi Tarek,
thanks a lot for your response. The solution is in the first point : we have to return on SmartStart after the OS install.
Best regards.
Laurent.

Re: Proliant DL380 G3 OS install problem
Insert the Smart Start CD again before or while the server reboots !
The installation has not finished yet.
Best regards
