SCSI Array Change - 1+0

Hello,

I have a DL380 server with a Smart Array 5i controller that is configured with a RAID 1+0 SCSI. Unfortunately the spare drive has not been added to array A. If I add the spare to Array A would I have any data loss on the mirrored drives?

I have an example .doc attached with a before and after.

Thanks Sean

Sean:

Yes, you can add the spare to an existing array without data loss. Be sure to use the (Array Configuration Utility) SmartStart CD that came with your server.

Here is a document that will guide you through the process:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/user_reference_guides/239449-004_rev4_us.pdf
Look on page 26.
