SCSI for DL360 G4

Could you help me to choose a SCSI adapter to connect a strange 3rd party external SCSI device to ProLiant DL360 G4 server.
The device uses 50-pin connector and SCSI 2 type interface.

Re: SCSI for DL360 G4

Hi Evgeniy:

depends on the type of device you have so if it is scsi 2; wu2 80mg/s
- you don't need more than AHA 29160 Adaptec controller.

cabling wise; you can get the duel or single channel controllers.

- the duel channel has VHDCI connections on the back; and the single channell has Wide 68 pin .

- most likely you already have the cable that came with the device; and it will be either VHDCI or wide 68pin.

so you decied.

another controller will be the LSI Logic u320 controller. HP Sells these controllers on their website. This one might be too fast for the device, it is 100/133 PCI-X card.

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/adapters/index.html

Both of the above controllers from HP are 100% compatable with that server.

Good luck.

Tarek.

Re: SCSI for DL360 G4

We found Adaptec 19160 acceptable for us, because of 50-pin external connector and support of old scsi devices.

Is it 100% compatible with DL360 server and Windows 2003 server OS?

Re: SCSI for DL360 G4

This card has to be universal pci.

the server will only take 3.3 volts pci cards or universal.

if it fits in the slot ; then you should be okay.

also make sure that the bios for the server is 12/02/2004 and firmware for the onboard 6i controller is 2.36 . There was issues with resource IRQ allocation in the bios.

Good luck.

Tarek.
