Server migration DL360 to DL380 using Acronis

Hi all.

I want to achieve this using acronis and can manage this as far as raid rivers etc and get the new server to boot.

However, when the migrated server restarts there are lots of missing drivers. What is the easiest way of detecting/installing the correct drivers?

PS this is a win2 DC server
Can the smart start CD help here?

Following the migration download and install the latest ProLiant Support Pack for the DL380. That will update all the relevant HP drivers/utilities.

Thanks for this. My reading of the PSP details on the HP site are that it supports windows 2003 onwards, not win2k?

There are older versions of the PSP that support Windows 2000 Server.

Which generation of DL380 is the migration target?

The ProLiant Support Pack for Windows 2000 is on this page:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3288134&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121516&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=181#78221

I'm fairly certain that v7.60 was the last version released for Win2K.

Will give this a try when I am on that site next week. Much appreciated.

Re: Server migration DL360 to DL380 using Acronis

Glad I could help.

You mentioned that it is a remote site. Always run/update the PSP either standing at the server or using the iLO. Updating the NIC driver through Remote Desktop / Terminal Services can corrupt the NIC device in Device Manager, and it's painful to correct.

Kedd, many thanks. Did a dry run of my server migration earlier and got all the drivers done in about 5 minutes flat.
