Smart Array 431 Logical Drive extension
Greetings,
I am running a Proliant ML370 with a smart array 431 controller RAID 5 and Windows 2000.
I am running out of disk space and recently added a drive to my array configuration. It has finished expanding the array. I now want to extend the logical drive. It will not let me and gives me error 15409 with a message of "Logical drives cannot be extended on this controller because the controller does not support logical drive extension"
Windows sees the disk as dynamic.
How can I extend my drive without losing data?

Re: Smart Array 431 Logical Drive extension
I have since downloaded ACU 2.9. It now tells me message 15456
"You have requested to perform extension of this logical drive. Extension is not currently supported on Windows 2000. If the operating system for this logical drive is Windows 2000, please do not attempt to use this feature, as data loss could occur"
I need a solution for Windows 2000. I will accept a solution for Windows Server 2003.
Again Windows 2000 SP3 currently

Wayne
SA 431 support online capacity expansion
Main point is to Have SP3 at least with 2000
Firmware for Array Controller Latest, Driver Latest, ACU latest (in your case - Ok), good backup still recommended, 5th generation controller would eliminate risk of data loss, however you can run with good known backup.
