SmartArray 3200 Replacement Procedures for Proliant 6500R

I have a bad 3200 Smart Array controller (340855-001) that needs to be replaced on my Proliant 6500R Server. Yes this is very old server and no longer under warranty. I am looking for procedures on safe replacement and steps on what to do to avoid any data loos. Any advice/link is appreciated. Is thre a cash module that needs to be moved to new RAID board?

Re: SmartArray 3200 Replacement Procedures for Proliant 6500R

Make sure you have similar part number of the controller. Get a copy of SMARTSTART 5 just in case you have to run the configuration utility. With server powered off, replace the controller (must be on the slot). If there's cache module from the original card-move it to the new controller. During boot-up process, you should see the controller and number of attached device. NOTE: If you do not see the SA3200 during boot up, you have to reboot the server with SmartStart 5 CD and run the configuration utility and save it. GOOD LUCK!!
