SmartStart CD's for DL380 G1 servers

Hi,

I have 3x DL380 G1 Servers and need to rebuild them and have lost all the CD's and Manuals.

Can you please advise what version of SmartStart I require for this (I think it's 5.50) but if you could confirm I would really appreciate it.

Also are the SmartStart CD Images the only things I'll need to update firmware / drivers etc or do I need other bits and pieces for that.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you should use SmartStart 5.50 to configure the DL380 G1 servers as this is by far the easiest method of building them. You can order the CD from HP for around $25.00 here:

Make sure to get SmartStart 5.50 as later versions will not work with these server.

Some thing I did forget to mention was that I intend to load Windows 2003 Standard on these server. Do I need to use a support pack for this... or do I just use smart start to build the drive array and then just load 2003 and any required drivers ?

PS. How's the weather in the states at the moment?

Ahhh... Windows 2003.

You will need to install the latest bios, here: https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/product?language=en_US&cep=on&kmpmoid=254889&tab=driversAndSoftware&manualsAndGuidesFilter=66000014&driversAndSoftwareFilter=8000012
This will give you the latest fixes and give you Windows 2003 support.

Now, Smart Start 5.50 will not give you an "assisted path" to install Windows 2003 so choose manual install path and be sure to select Windows as the intended O/S. Once your array is configured and you have built your System Partition, then you will install the O/S manually from the windows media CD.

Once the system is built, you will need to load the latest ProLiant Support Pack (PSP): https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/product?language=en_US&cep=on&kmpmoid=254889&tab=driversAndSoftware&manualsAndGuidesFilter=66000014&driversAndSoftwareFilter=8000078&driversAndSoftwareSubtype=9000221
This will complete the install except for the O/S patches and your application(s).

HINT: You may want to make the NIC driver diskette in advance (or have access to a browser on a working system) in case the install process cannot detect it off the bat.
