SmartStart: error running hwdisc-2.exe
I am trying to install from scratch a Proliant 1850R. I cleaned the system partition first, and am now trying to boot from the SmartStart 5.50 CD.
After the splash screen I get text:
Loading SmartStart. Please wait...
SPAWN ERROR: Exec format error running hwdisc-2.exe
What does this mean?
And how can I fix it?
Michael.
Side question:
- Can I mix Utlra2 and Ultra3 scsi disks on this Smart Array 221 Controller?

Re: SmartStart: error running hwdisc-2.exe
Using the SmartStart 5.40 CD fixed this problem.
After entering SmartStart and configuring my raid (4 scsis into 1x RAID5 & 1x RAID0).
I get upon bootup
SPAWN ERROR: No file or path win.com
Looking at
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/ng/microsoft.public.windows.server.general/post354189.asp
and
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/askkcs/abg/253_0_20991713_2946777.html
it seems I need to erase the system.
But I can't boot into SmartStart so I can't erase the system...
What can I do?
