Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
Hello,
I have a Microproliant Gen8 that at boot time it remains at 70% Progress and shows status code 5008.
I can access via iLO, but can't perform any update.
I've tried removing memory, resetting NVRAM via switch 6, power off, etc. with no results. BTW, the server, when I disconnect the power, and connect it again, it boots up without pressing the power button. I think that for this reason the NVRAM is not cleared correctly. The same happens if I power off the button.
Does anybody what else could I do to revive it?
Regards,
Alex.

Re: Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
Hi,
You may try to bring server into Base Configuration, like, disconnect hard drives, remove any external connected devices, base memory, remove pci cards and then try to boot.
For more information, please see ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 Maintenance and Service Guide.

Re: Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
Well,
Before posting, I already tried everything you told.
The doubt I have is how to perform a NVRAM delete.
Is supossed to put switch 6 on, power on, wait 10 sec, and power off.
Is it correct?

Hi,
Switch OFF the server
Turn ON switch 6
Switch ON the server
You should see an error message on screen
Again Switch OFF the server
Turn OFF switch 6
Again Switch ON the server
Thank You!

Re: Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
Hi,
When I switch on the server with Switch on, there is no error.
It shows 10%, then seems to reboot, continuing till 90%.
I've tried disconnecting popwer cord, removing battery, etc.
I think is not detecting I've switched 6 on.
Do you agree?

Re: Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
Hi,
May be there was an maintenance downtime at HPESC during this weekend, so the links were not working. I checked today, and all is well.
Thank You!

Re: Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
The issue is that I don't see any error message.
Could it be that NVRAM is defected?
Thansk,

I also encountered the same problem. My machine is hp proliant G388 G8.
It stayed at 70% during the power-on self-test, and it didn't move. status code: 5008
I also plugged in and unplugged all peripheral accessories to minimize the hardware boot of the server, and the result was the same every time.
From the following engineer's reply, if this problem is not solved, then the server is scrapped!
