Unsupported gigabit NIC on ML370 server
My company has jjst purchased an ML370 proliant server, into which we are trying to install a new 3COM gigabit ethernet card. The problem we are having is that the server comes up with the error message that the NIC is not supported.
Has onyone else come across this or simliar issues with PCI NIC? is so what was done to resolve the issue??
Thanks
V

Re: Unsupported gigabit NIC on ML370 server
Try to Update BIOS; try different slot, Verify Server specification and Optional Parts, Purchase Supported Components NEW from HP or Used from eBay.
Is ML370 G1 ?

Re: Unsupported gigabit NIC on ML370 server
I have been in contact with both 3COM who have confirmed that the NIC is not compatable with ML370 - G4, they also directed me to the HP site, where this is again confirmed!! No explanation as to why this is so!!

Re: Unsupported gigabit NIC on ML370 server
If is not 64bit/133MHZ - you get message for Incompatibility, it made by design, to eliminate architecture bus speed degradation and eliminate timeouts also few other reasons performance related.
