Upgrading Windows 200 Advanced Server
My DL580 has been running Windows 200 Advanced Server for almost 2 years. Im having all sorts what I believe are OS related issues with the box and need to rebuild. I have 4 CPU's and 8 gigs of Ram and its my SQL 2000 server. I would like to go ahead and install Windows 2003. Has anyone else done an upgrade on the box. Im sure I will need to upgrade the BIOS, and all the Controllers first. Does anyone know if I can download a new HP SMART Start CD?

Scott:
Look here for downloadable versions of Smart Start...

Which generation Server it this?
You can just download the Proliant Suport paq as well, probably smaller, since your not re-building the box from the ground up. If you end up building the box from the ground up, remember that you can only use Smart Start 5.5 or earlier to build a G1 box. You may have to install Windows 2003 manually if that is the case.

Re: Upgrading Windows 200 Advanced Server
Its a G2 Box and I think it may be best to rebuild from scratch. Just nervous with the External SCSCI Tape Drive and the External Storage Array.

Re: Upgrading Windows 200 Advanced Server
Is your SQl data on the external box?
You should be able to use SS 7.40 to build the box. De-attach the external box before hand to protect it from ANYTHING.
Re-connect afterwards and re-install SQL.
