VMware hangs on BL20p G3

after a few seconds from boot, vmware hangs with "VFS: Cannot open root device "" or 02:00"
any idea?

How much memory do you have
sometimes vmware kernel is written with specific memory in mind like Samsong -

reduce ram and check to make sure all memory dimms are matching or are same brand.
