What is iLO device drivers for?

Hi, I need to document the steps for future server deployments but I don't have another server to test out... so need your expertise advise.

1. Must I install the iLO device drivers i.e. iLO Mgmt Interface Driver first before I can login to the iLO?
2. Is it possible to configure the global settings like enabling telnet, remote console, etc first... then install the iLO device drivers?

By the way, what are the iLO device drivers for?

Re: What is iLO device drivers for?

iLO driver is needed if you want to acceess to iLO properties from os.
You do not have to instal it to access iLO device (one of purposes to use iLO is support POST errors :))
If you connect to iLO you can configure global settings, or you can do this from ROM base utility.

So meaning
1. Setup the network parameters via iLO RBSU,
2. Install iLO drivers
3. Access to iLO using web browser to configure global settings?

Re: What is iLO device drivers for?

It's correct.
But what you mean global parameters? To use iLO no other parameters except IP address, natwork mask (and eventual default gateway) are needed.

The global settings under the Administration tab (via browser), it can set the remote console, telnet, terminal services, port settings, etc.
