Windows 2003 Server on an E800 Netserver?
We have an E800 netserver & would like to load W2K3 Server on it. It currently had a 1Ghz processor & we're planning to buy an add'l one if we proceed. Server has just under 1Gb of RAM currently.
HP advises no guarantees on this server running W2K3 successfully & I've had little luck finding people who have/haven't been successful with this.
Any advice or comments will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on an E800 Netserver?
JR:
The server will meet minimum requirements for Win2K3, the critical search will be to discover if all the components have a 2003 driver set?
The controller likely has a good 2003 driver, but you need to determine if the NIC has one or if you need to use a new NIC.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on an E800 Netserver?
I have a client with two of these. One of them is configured almost like yours:
2 900 Mhz processors and 1Gb of RAM.
They're running small business server 2003 on this box and serving 15 users. It's not the fastest system in the world but it suits their needs. On the other hand, if they grow the box will have to go.
Best bang for the buck I've found for this system is max out the RAM to 2GB.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on an E800 Netserver?
Past few month, we has pilot our E800 server with Win2k3 using original device spec. Here is the result..
The E800 server automatically reboot at least twice a day. This occur even we has diselect 'Automatic restart' in Startup & Recovery option.
Hope it give you some ideas..
