I'm new to the forum and i saw there are many hp experts here, hope to find the info i need.
Anyone tried to install Windows Server 2003 to LH 6000r? I have a client who want to use my LH 6000r and LH 3000 and install Windows 2003 on it. I need to know if it supports Windows 2003. Any hardware/software/driver issues?
Hope for your earliest response.
Thanks all. :)

Solutionwindows 2003 is not supported on these Netserver machines by HP.
But you should be able to install it on these machines; as long as the processors are over 500mhz you are okay.
2003 is only supported on these Netservers:
TC 3100 bios 4.06.18
TC 4100 bios 4.06.18

Re: Windows Server 2003 support for HP Netserver LH 6000r
As Tarek said, Server 2003 is not tested/supported on the LH3000/6000, however, that doesn't mean it won't work. Make sure your BIOS is at the lastest revision and when you start the install, use the drivers that are native to Server 2003. I have server 2003 running on these boxes but I haven't tested any high-end apps (i.e. SQL, Oracle, etc).
What are you planning on using the servers for?
If you need any help finding drivers/firmware, etc, write back and we'll send the links.
Ingat,
Sean T. Craig Sr. C.E.T., M.C.P.
P.S. If you write back, be sure to include whether or not these servers are U3's.
P.P.S. Be sure to say thanks with points as per the forum guidelines.

Re: Windows Server 2003 support for HP Netserver LH 6000r
My current specs is LH6000r with (2CPUs) 700MHz and 2Gig of RAM.
Im planning to use it as a Database Server running SQL 2005.
I want to know if i need to use a new driver for its RAID controller.
Can you give me the links for the latest bios/drivers i need to use for LH6000r?
Any advice.
Salamat,
Richard

Re: Windows Server 2003 support for HP Netserver LH 6000r
This matrix shows which OS is supported on which Netserver model.
In short, for Windows 2003, only the TC-series do support it, no other models have official HP support,no matter what CPU or BIOS etc they have.

Re: Windows Server 2003 support for HP Netserver LH 6000r
I have windows 2003 server enterprise running on my lh6000. I have 6x 900mhz processors (used to have 700mhz, worked fine), 3x73gig scsi drives, RAID 5 for OS, 7x 36 gig scsi drives RAID 5 for data, and an external RS/12 w/ 12 73 gig, RAID 5 for additional storage.
The lh6000 is a great machine, and is by no means obsoltet... it runs 2003 24/7 for me for months now. The only time I have problems is when I try to upgrade something without manuals... Also, topotools sometimes doesn't work. But other than that, the machine works great. (caveat-- the server is performing very light duties. Web server for a very lightly traveled web site, file server for my house with three nodes, backup software, and remote login server.)

Re: Windows Server 2003 support for HP Netserver LH 6000r
The only thing I can find for an error is on Windows startup two events go into the Event Log stating the ACPI BIOS is attempting to read and write to an illegal address and it may cause system instability.
Can anyone help me figure this out? I purchased the NetServer used and I don't have much experience with it... :(
