SolutionWhat array controller and what server
is this Software or hardware mirroring:
if this is on a Prolian Smart array controller;
You can do this online; just hotplug the new drive and it will recover on its own (make sure controller has latest firmware)
also you can do offline recovery; ; shutdown server, remove failed hard drive; put in the replacement drive;
you will get
F1 - to continue with recover
F2- to continue without recover.
ofcourse we will have to hit F1.

Re: disk mirror array disk failure recovery
Yes, this is the Proliant smart array and it is hardware mirror.
Server model: DL380 G3
The server has the integrated controller. Do I still have to update the firmware for the controller?
So, whenever one disk fail it automatically give me the F1, F2 options to recover the drive?
Thank you so much for your help,
Thai

Re: disk mirror array disk failure recovery
the option is only when you powerdown the server and (replace failed drive) and reboot.
now if you need to do this Hot PLUG ; when server is live; there is no options; it will be done auto.
and Yes you have to make sure that the 5i emedded controller is at 2.58 if you are doing the Hotplug option.
