Re: hp ProLiant DL380 G4 NIC

I installed the files, but I noticed that the warning was in the second netwrok card saying that the network link is down, and actually i'm not using this second network card so i disable it and i'm not seiing the warning again.

but the system is still freezing and not responding how can i know where is the problem ???

if the problem is from SQL, or any other application why the entire system is freezing at least i should be able to end task from task manager !!

please I need your help to catch the problem thx

Re: hp ProLiant DL380 G4 NIC

Did you update the BIOS / System ROM as mentioned above?

What is listed in the IML (Integrated Management Log) found in the SMH (System Management Homepage)? This should give us a good idea where the problem(s) are.

Re: hp ProLiant DL380 G4 NIC

the problem is that my server is in a remote location, so i'm afraid to update the bios and after restart it may not operate. this is a case and it could happen.

what i want to know is that when updating the Bios how much is the probability to succeed or fail ?

Re: hp ProLiant DL380 G4 NIC

The HP BIOS / system ROM updates have been highly reliable for me. I've had no issue updating hundreds of ProLiant's.

Re: hp ProLiant DL380 G4 NIC

There are several ways to update the BIOS / system ROM on a ProLiant. All work equally reliably.

1) Online ROM Flash component for Windows is the easiest. Run the executable from within Windows Server, follow the directions, and reboot when prompted. When the server reboots it will have the new version of firmware. This is the easiest method, and something I would definitely recommend for a remote server.

2) Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade diskette is a diskette image that will generate a DOS-bootable diskette to flash the firmware.

3) ProLiant Firmware Maintenance CD is a CD-image that can be used to burn a bootable ISOLinux CD capable of flashing all the firmware on the server. Click the 'free download' link.
