Re: installing linux on HP Proliant DL 380 G5

It has been a long time since I did this, but IIRC at some point during the initial startup there is an opportunity to load additional drivers. Don't ask me exactly where etc.. :-(

Anyway, when that point is reached, the aacraid driver is prime candidate for manual loading. There may be other SCSI drivers that need to be manually loaded, not sure.

If you don't see that opportunity during the initial start, you may need to start the boot/install in text mode, or expert mode.

Also, if you don't have a good reason for choosing RH9, I recommend installing Fedora 8 instead.

I'd suggest that the DL380 G5 won't support Redhat 9. It's a VERY old version.

If it's a production server i'd suggest Redhat EL 4 or 5. Whilst you pay for support it's not much at all. You'll need "enterprise server (ES)" version.

You can also use Fedora. Fedora followed Redhat 9.

Make sure you setup your RAID first, and then the later versions will install without a problem. Also make sure you install the Support pack once you've got the OS installed.
