power supply sparked
We have an ML 350 Compaq Proliant Server. The power supply sparked when we turned it on. Would there be a possibility that the board and the hard drive got affected too? It does not have a redundant power supply. The fan is louder than the usual but the server wont turn on.

Re: power supply sparked
Hi,
I do not think the mainboard or disks would be affected. The first generation ML350 had a problem with its power supply. The PSU goes *bzzt* and then the server won't power up. It tries to power up: about 1-2 seconds of fan activity, then goes off, and this repeats itself. Replacing the power supply usually solved the problem, with no damage to the other server components.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: power supply sparked
This is a second generation G2 ML350. We had it checked and they indeed say that the power supply is not supplying enough to the whole server. Would having a redundant power supply could have prevented the problem? Is accumulating of dusk could have caused the PS to "blow-up" and fry the PS?.
