proliant gen8's bay2 not working
hi there, i have a gen8, but bay2 is not working,
and it's like this, i put in a hard drive(no matter the capacity, 500g, it etc.) in bay1,3,4, it's fine and can be dectected by the system(on boot up and in windows system), but bay2 is not ok, not only did it not show up in boot up but in windows.
i replaced the backplanel cables, updated bios and ilo and it's the same. i'm wondering if it's the motherboard problem.
did anyone else ever encounter the same issue?

Re: proliant gen8's bay2 not working
The backplane connector for slot 2 (bay2) is bad... Check the SAS/SATA connector for damage with a flashlight.
Regards,
Louis H.

Re: proliant gen8's bay2 not working
Thanks Louis, the backpanel is fine because i can hear the hard drive rotates and it feels hot after a while.
i ordered a mini-sas socket for the motherboard online last night, i'll replace it and see how it goes then get back to you.

Re: proliant gen8's bay2 not working
I would tend to agree with Louis. If the other drives are functioning as expected, my first suspicion would be the bay 2 backplane conenction as being the issue and not the backplane to system board connections. What model server is this?
