"Discovery Failed" HP Smart Update Manager

Hi all

I am using a DL380 G4 and tried to run HP Smart Update Manager from the CD.

When performing firmware update. I get the "Status: Discovery Failed"

I have the same problem.

I'm experimenting with 4 test systems before using the tool on production systems. 2 are members of a domain and 2 are not. I used domain admin credentials on the domain servers and they work OK. When I try to use the local admin account credentials on the workgroup servers, I get "discovery failed".

There isn't even a "back" or "refresh" option so you have to exit the utility and start over.

Hi,

Download the PSP 7.91 and then extract the files.
Once the files are extracted look for file name: bp000344.cmd and double click on it.
The setup will run in a command prompt window.
Let the setup complete on its own.
Once the setup is done, the server is ready with the PSPs

May be because of WMI. Check WMI for any issues.
