unexpected shutdown
We had a HP storagework AIO 600 G5 3T server.
Recently, two power supplies of this server were replaced because of a big spike.
After that, this server keeps rebooting randomly (at least twice a day, sometimes is four).
There is no error message in evenlog, what I can find is
"The previous system shutdown at 6:18:09 AM on 7/2/2010 was unexpected."
Thanks
Kire

Re: unexpected shutdown
Hi,
Run the latest firmware maintenance cd and see if there is any update. After, install the latest support pack.
Usually this kind of problem can be solved with the latest firmwre and support pack. I've seen few times this happens because the engineers do not use proper earthing while working inside the server. This type is very difficult to pinpoint. The only way is to replace the parts and see. In your case there was power surge that burned both the power supplies; that might have something to do with this issue. I will also suspect PPMs (processor power modules)
