5 questions for which every CIO should have answers

‎11-13-2013 10:53 AM - edited ‎09-16-2015 09:03 AM

It may be an old adage, but it’s true: what you don’t know, CAN hurt you. And in today’s new threat landscape, it seems that what you don’t know can be…well…a lot. Security breaches have gone from being an IT issue, to being a business issue. And in becoming so, the board is asking questions. They want to know what could happened, how much a breach costs, when can it be fixed, and so on. Therefore, you must have answers for these 5 critical questions:

  1. How do we know if our security investments protect our most critical business functions?
  2. How are we protecting ourselves in a world dominated by mobile devices and free Wi-Fi?
  3. How do we ensure cloud applications being used are secure?
  4. How are we defending ourselves from internal threats?
  5. How are we ensuring compliance with privacy laws here and abroad?

Even if you are not a security professional, it is important that you understand the position of your enterprise regarding these key questions.

I hope you join me at HP Discover Barcelona 2013, where I’ll be leading the session BB3219: Security 101—What every CIO should ask of their CISO. We’ll look at these 5 key questions and understand the context of why they are important.  I look forward to seeing you and discussing your security concerns.
