HP introduces the new HP Reputation Security Monitor 1.5

‎02-26-2013 05:00 AM - edited ‎09-16-2015 08:45 AM

HP introduces the new HP Reputation Security Monitor 1.5, an update to a solution that integrates the power of market-leading HP ArcSight with reputation data from HP DVLabs to provide even greater threat protection.  By correlating security events with timely, vetted security intelligence, threats can be detected earlier.  And, by detecting and blocking communication between malicious hosts and infected infrastructure, even the most sophisticated attacks can be averted.

The HP Ponemon Cost of Cybercrime report shows that it is important to identify threats and stop attacks early – in general, the longer it takes to detect and remediate, the costlier the attacks.  Reputation data can accelerate threat intelligence, speeding detection.  And, while reputation data is available via the open source community, reliable threat intelligence, vetted by global experts, makes prioritization more effective and efficient.  Sites with bad reputations can be identified quickly and attempts to communicate and exfiltrate intellectual property can be blocked.

Now, with HP RepSM version 1.5, it’s possible to detect additional threats including peer-to-peer network use and potential spear phishing.  Because you can accumulate and analyze suspicious connections, (including internal), over time, it’s possible to surface attack reconnaissance and abnormal activity levels, then automatically block attacks and exfiltration via Integration with HP TippingPoint IPS.  And, through integration with HP ThreatDetector, you can detect and verify zero day attack and APT spread patterns.
