ILO and SIM
Hi -
I have read the ILO (on motherboard of Proliant DL380 G3) besides doing remote access also does monitoring and error alerting - does
SIM need to have ILO lan connections to fully function? I have a bad memory stick, it seems that with ILO lan plugged in I get a nicer gui error page to look at, and without the ILO lan connection I see the same error condition in the error log of SIM for that server. Just wondering whether I should insist on having ILO plugged in ... what does it buy me??
Thanks

Re: ILO and SIM
Tom-
Having the iLO LAN plugged in allows you to remotely manage your server in cases where the server OS may be unavailable.
For SIM, having the iLO plugged in does not buy you much. Having the iLO plugged in allows SIM to discover the server when it is powered off or the OS has crashed.
James.
