Remote console -> keyboard not working

I have a Compaq Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition card in a Compaq Proliant 6400R, and I'm having difficulties to get the remote console to work.

Well, it shows me my FreeBSD login prompt, but I cannot type anything. Since FreeBSD is not (officialy) supported, I tried it also with SUSE Linux 7.x AND Redhat Linux 8.x, and I still cannot type anything. It seems to me the software version of RILOE I'm using is buggy or so. I currently run version 2.53

2nd question: does the Proliant 6400R work with the RILOE Edition II ?

Thank you for any help, I'm really stuck :(

Re: Remote console -> keyboard not working

Hi,

Is the keyboard U.S. or Non U.S?
If Non-U.S., try using a U.S. Keyboard

Is the issue unable to login or the characters that you type are not accepted (not displayed) by the server?

Yes, the Proliant 6400R works with RILOE II.

Re: Remote console -> keyboard not working

Hi,

Thanks. It's US Keyboard (Logitech QWERTY), so ought to be okay :)

The problem is that the characters are not displayed, but also not received by the server to be able to login. Even if I try it via telnet to the RILOE, I can login to the RILOE but when going to console, same issue. Normal *NIX login prompt displayed, but not being able to login, not even 'Return' (Enter) is accepted.

Re: Remote console -> keyboard not working

Are you using the 'Y' keyboard/mouse cable that came with the riloe kit?
