how to recover ilo110 (DL120 G6) password

I have tried admin/admin and cannot login, operator however works. HPoncfg does not work on this ilo version.

any ideas?

PS: in bios there is an option to set the ilo IP address but not a password for admin.

Re: how to recover ilo110 (DL120 G6) password

Hi Ernest,

Upgrade the firmware for the BMC (Lights-Out 100) and it will automatically reset the admin password to the default (that is, username:admin , password:admin ).

If you currently have the latest BMC firmware version, downgrade the BMC firmware, and then re-upgrade.

Thanks,
Aftab

Re: how to recover ilo110 (DL120 G6) password

Well, i did that and still could not login. I downgraded from 4.21 to 4.06 and back again. I still cannot login with admin/admin, only with Operator/Operator. I have tried ssh and https access.

Here is the log for fw upgrade:

Re: how to recover ilo110 (DL120 G6) password

I've got it. fw down/upgrade did not work. This however did. All I had to google for was not iLO but BMC. For that I thank you. On this link is what worked for me (http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1275583)

PS: I uploaded the ISO to my webserver: http://www.oernii.sk/soft/ipmitool.iso (2MB)

Hello Zoltan, maybe you can try this:
To reset the password for the lights-out 100

1. Create a DOS bootable disk (floppy or USB key)
2. Download the IPMItool from this link: http://www.intel.com/design/servers/ipmi/ipmi_tool.htm
3. Copy the IPMItool.exe to the bootable disk
4. Boot the server using the bootable disk
5. Run "ipmitool.exe 20 18 47 03 02 61 64 6d 69 6e 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00"
6. Now your password should reset back to "admin"

Note that your user name is not changed, so you need to use the same user name.

I hope this helps.
