no video output on hp proliant dl580 G2

hi,

When I turn on the server I can't get any video output. I tried using iLO console but it says video mode unsupported in the server status box. There is no extra video card installed. I already tried clearing the NVRAM. I have no error lights on the front display. All are green and functioning. any ideas? i am new to this server.

First - are you sure its just not in a video mode unsupported by your monitor?

If you think it is faulty, Go here:

Register for license keys.

You will get sent ILO2 Advanced license keys in all the eval keys.

Enter the key and use the console in graphics mode.

well there is a license key in it. what's funny is that it was the RAM. I tried everything. Then I was like let me make sure the RAM isn't loose. I pulled it out. Reinserted all of the RAM and the RAM thingy that holds all of it. Turn it on, and bam there it goes. Thanks for your help though.

Sounds like the system never left POST. Good job troubleshooting.
