Re: MySQL 4 & PHP with RHEL3 AS...
Actually, thats what i've just started doing...just kicked off an rpmbuild using the src rpm. I've decided i'm gonna compile the whole lot from source. If that fails, i'm going to stick my head in a bucket of water.

In order to get the mysql-server package you must be subscribed to the RHEL3AE/ES Extras channel on Redhat.net or use the last CD from the distro which should have the extra's on it.

Re: MySQL 4 & PHP with RHEL3 AS...
Kernel problems made the install of MySQL 4 impossible on the Red Hat 3 series Enterprise releases. Centos/Red Hat 4 has a 2.6 kernel and complete support for MySQL 4.
I know this because I am running it.

Re: MySQL 4 & PHP with RHEL3 AS...
Hi, thanks I found this too. I believe that RedHat4 comes with the MySQL 4.x.x RPMs on the install media. Have had a quick look at it and it seems to have all the more up-to-date versions of Apache/PHP/MySQL. Looks like RHEL4 is the way to go. Thanks for the replies.
