Printing from Mozilla (linux) to HP PhotoSmart P 1000

I'm running RedHat Linux 9.0 on a P4 and I'm trying to print from within Mozilla (browser.) I've tried several commands including lpr -Php1000(and numerous variations of same,(I'm wondering too, if I'm using the correct command)) kprinter, xpp, and g-print but, without success. Now I'm trying to find out if a linux driver is needed and/or available and if so where I can find this 'badbaby.' Or, is there another workaround? Muchas gracias for all kind words, in advance. Please e-mail responses too. phil

Is this issue a problem if you try and print /etc/issue from the command line?

I'm not convinced this is a printer driver issue until you prove that you can't print in any application.

If it is indeed a driver issue, you may not like the outcome. There are still a lot of printer manufacturers that don't bother creating Linux drivers for their printers.

I would suggest a search at http://www.hp.com Support or drivers link.

If you don't find that, you may wish to call the printer support number at HP off the main support 800 phone number.

Hi,

check out the gimp-print project (http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net). They seem to have a driver for the PhotoSmart 1000

Greetings, Martin
